No support for army operation anywhere inside Pakistan: Imran Khan - 25 April 2014

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that his party never supported army operation against Pakistani citizens anywhere in the country.

“We never support army’s operation against our own people anywhere in the country,” Khan said while speaking to a rally organised in connection with the 18th foundation day of PTI.

The PTI chief accused former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry of being involved in election rigging.

“Iftikhar Chaudhry, you were also involved in match fixing. I am saying this because the former chief justice chaired a meeting of returning officer for the first before elections,” Khan said while addressing a gathering held to mark party’s 18th Founding Day.

“Those who are involved in election rigging should be exposed and put on trial under Article 6 of the Constitution,” he said.

The PTI chief also lashed out at the owner of a private media group for protecting his commercial interests in the name of freedom of expression.

“The attack on Hamid Mir is deplorable. But what followed for the next eight hours cannot even be done by an enemy state,” he said, referring to allegations of a media group against ISI.

He announced that his party would launch a protest movement on May 11 against government’s failure to verify thumb impressions of voters on four constituencies. He also invited other parties to join his movement.

Commenting on PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that an independent and powerful accountability commission would be able to question chief minister and ministers.

Imran expressed resolve that he and his party would continue to thrive for bringing about genuine democracy in the country.
