LAHORE: Famous journalist and analyst Najam Sethi said on Friday that Pakistan Army is not a sacred cow and civilian power is increasing in country’s political landscape.
Sethi revealed that in the past when we journalists had to talk about army’s role in politics, we would call them ‘establishment’.
Then we started to call them ‘Hassas Idarey” (sensitive institutions) but now we directly call ‘ Army’ and this signals the rise of civilian power.
Speaking in a Geo TV show, Sethi said that he has a advice for Pakistan Army, that if they do not stop banning Geo TV in defence institutions and other areas. Geo will file a petition will be in court and the court can issue any distasteful statement.
“The court will stand with Geo Television” claimed a confident Sethi.
Sethi claimed that Geo always took side of the civilian forces and that is why it is punished.
It must be remembered that after a row between Pakistan Army and Geo Televison, the channel is banned in cantonment areas and defence institutions of the country.
