MUMBAI: Sherlock Holmes is definitely the most depicted character ever when it comes to detective roles.
And BBC TV series ‘Sherlock’ has given it completely new meaning as the actor Benedict Cumberbatch has given an exceeding spectacular portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.
Bollywood has also tried to cash on this legendary character with an upcoming movie ‘Samrat & Co’.
Rajeev Khandelwal is playing the male protagonist in the movie and he has been asked endlessly whether his character is desi Sherlock or not? Or did he take inspiration from Benedict Cumberbatch?
Well Rajeev has answered this question once and for all in an interview with ‘Hindustan Times’.
The ‘Aamir’ actor said, “A lot of people think so and they are not wrong. My character was born from the same germ as Sherlock, only we draw inspiration from the legendary Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes happens to be the archetype of a true-blue detective. My character will be similar to Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Byomkesh Bakshi, Karamchand… everyone.”
