LAHORE: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Lahore police has foiled ammunition smuggling bid discovering large cache of ammunition and apprehended two accused.
In a press conference, Superintendent of Police (SP), CIA Lahore, Muhammad Umar Virk has stated that check post at Thokar Niyaz Baig motorway when police stopped a car for search, police found hundreds of pistols, Kalashnikovs and bullets in the hidden boxes of the car.
The police apprehended two men in the car, both are father and son and they belonged to Sahiwal.
They were used to smuggle ammunition from elaqa-i-ghair (alien territory) and supplied it to Lahore, Sahiwal, Okara, and other districts in Punjab where dealers and criminals bought the ammunition from them.
The police has logged an F.I.R against the accused and started investigation into the matter.
