NAWABSHAH: One woman was killed while 15 others injured when Karakoram Express derailed in Bandi, Nawabshah here on early morning Wednesday, media reported.
The engine and two bogies went off the track causing a dangerous accident.
Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said the accident occurred when the tracks were being changed.
He has also announced Rs. 5 lakh for dead victims while Rs. 1 lakh for injured sufferers.
Rescue teams reached the accident spot and started rescue work. All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for medical aid.
The railway track has been closed after the accident and it will be re-opened after repair work.
