ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, said on Thursday that the government has no objection if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a peaceful protest in Islamabad on May 11.
The minister expressed these views in National Assembly today.
“We must review the way we protest. The government has no objection if protest is held in a democrat, political and peaceful manner,” Nisar told the house.
He said the Islamabad administration would completely cooperate with the PTI leadership.
Nisar also laid down a few conditions for PTI’s protest, which include:
- No use of firearms or any kind of harmful weapons, including sticks.
“Use of firearms or any harmful weapon will not be permitted. If any vehicle is transporting a weapon, it will be seized and will not be allowed to pass through,” Nisar said.
- Use of containers will not be allowed, except for those provided by the government.
- No infants are allowed.
“It’s not fair for children to be dragged to these protests in this heat,” the interior minister said.
- No fireworks.
Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, has announced a rally at Islamabad’s D.Chowk on May 11 against what he called ‘theft of public mandate.’ He vowed to show the power of his ‘tsunami supporters’ in the federal capital.
