BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan’s prime minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated a first of its kind 1000 megawatt solar powerplant at Quaid-e-Azam solar park here on Friday.
In the first phase of project, 100 megawatts will be generated, while the project will generate a full 1000 megawatts till 2016.
After the inauguration, PM went to Agricultural university Bahawalpur and addressed students there.
The PM said that Pakistan’s biggest problem is that of energy shortfall and the problem is adversely affecting agriculture, business, exports and industry.
He repeated his government’s resolve to fight the menace of load shedding and said that the solar power project will start contributing 100 MW to national grid in first 7 months while 1000 MW will be generated till 2006.
PM wants 11 May protesters to come on table:
Speaking about PTI’s 11 May protest he said that those protesting should come to the PM House and inform of rigging during the general elections 2013.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked what the protest was against. “What are protests about these days? Can someone who is at a rally tell me what they are protesting about? Are they against the development of Pakistan?”
