Indian defence minister warns Pakistan - 16th June 2014



SRINAGAR: Indian Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has warned Pakistan that Indian army would give a befitting reply to ceasefire violations along Line of Control by them.

Jaitley was speaking to reporters at the Raj Bhavan here after receiving comprehensive briefing from the Army regarding prevailing security situation along the borders. “I have come here to review the overall security situation.

I shall be interacting with the concerned people on this (ceasefire violations) during my stay here,” Jaitley said while replying a question on the alleged ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu region.

“Our Army is strong enough and well-equipped to deal with such violations,” he added.

Earlier Jaitley was received at Technical Airport by Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister of State for Home, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo and senior Army officers.

From Technical Airport, Jaitley was flown to Badamibagh Cantonment, Headquarters of 15 Corps. He was accompanied Chief of Army Staff, Gen Bikram Singh.

An official spokesman said governor and the defence minister held discussions with Gen Bikram Singh, chief of army staff, Lt Gen D S Hooda, northern army commander and Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, GoC XV Corps regarding important matters concerning external and internal security management.
