Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Imran Khan, Kajol: Bollywood actors with only one film in hand!

Sponsored By www.Apnafoodtv.com

These actors have just one film on hand

Sometimes it is out of choice and sometimes because they don’t have a choice. You are smart enough to figure out which option is the case wih which actor. Read on and decide…

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Acting debut: …Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997)

Last release: Guzaarish (2010)

Film on hand: Jazbaa

Why: Motherhood happened to the actress and she took a leave of absence to spend time with baby Aaradhya. And reportedly, thanks to her post-pregnancy weight loss, her appearance at the last Cannes edition was a statement of intent. She’s committed to a Mani Ratnam film too, but in all likelihood, her comeback will be Sanjay Gupta’s Jazbaa. Maybe, she’ll buck the trend of actresses making failed comebacks post-motherhood?

Kajol Devgn

Acting debut: Bekhudi (1992)

Last release: Toonpur Ka Superrhero (2010)

Film on hand: Ram Madhvani’s untitled next

Why: The actress is extremely choosy about the kind of films she does and prefers doing women-centric movies. The industry believes that she was on maternity leave for too long. But does out of sight, out of mind imply for an actress as talented as Kads? A few years ago, she was the go-to person for ‘performing’ roles. But in recent years, other powerful performers like Vidya Balan and Parineeti Chopra have emerged. And now these roles are being shared. She has also burned bridges with Karan Johar, which limits her choices further. Her only film is an Ajay Devgn production.

Vivek Oberoi

Acting debut: Company (2002)

Last release: Krrish 3 (2014)

Film on hand: Bumpy’s Bank Chor

Why: Just plain unlucky. He is a decent actor. Also, he is a nice guy, who is misunderstood. He made some powerful enemies at the start of his career and he is still paying a price for that. Too old to play lover boy. Too chocolate-faced to play the hero bashing 20 men. Vivek is still trying to find his zone. He attempted something different by doing a negative role in Krrrish 3, but it hasn’t helped. Playing the second hero might be a good start.

Arjun Rampal

Acting debut: Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001)

Last release: Satyagraha (2011).

Film on hand: Soni Razdan’s Love Affair (yet to sign a contract)

Why: After making an impact in Ra.One, his friendship with Shah Rukh Khan went awry after his wife Mehr had a spat with SRK at his home in Mannat. Currently shooting for Roy.

Preity Zinta

Acting debut: Dil Se.. (1998)

Last release: Ishkq In Paris (2013)

Film on hand: Bhaiyyaji Superhitt

Why: Consider this. She has had a string of cameos (the last one being the upcoming Happy Ending) and special appearances over the last six years. She spent most of her time tending to her IPL team. She did find time to produce and star in Ishkq In Paris opposite a former TV actor. All of it kind of killed her credibility, no? And like all Sunny Deol films, Bhaiyyaji is stuck in limbo. Nothing left to do but twiddle her thumbs and wait, we guess.

Ileana D’Cruz

Acting debut: Barfi! (2012)

Last release: Main Tera Hero

Film on hand: Raj-DK’s Happy Ending

Why: Despite a stunning debut in the critically and commercially successful Barfi! and this year another hit, Ileana is not yet able to find her groove. According to a few critics, she needs to be more versatile and brush up on her comic acting skills. Stuck with one film.

Chitrangada Singh

Acting debut: Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005)

Last release: I, Me Aur Main (2013)

Film on hand: Vikram Bhatt’s untitled thriller

Why: She lost her mojo when she decided to be part of the factory-line of actresses. She had an earthy, sexy appeal and worked with certain directors who presented her best. The move to commercial cinema was career harakiri. There is too much competition there from younger and more popular leading ladies. She was unique in her slot. She traded in her earthiness for size zero, and lost. Currently playing herself in an upcoming Tamil film and a special appearance in Akshay Kumar starrer-Gabbar.

Sridevi

Acting debut: Julie (1975; as a child star), Solva Saavan (1979; as a leading lady)

Last release: English Vinglish (2012)

Film on hand: Boney Kapoor’s untitled production

Why: It’s been two years too, long since her smashing return in EV. But the audience hasn’t forgotten her yet. The fabulous actress is taking on little work. Wonder why…

Imran Khan

Acting debut: Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008)

Last release: Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013)

Film on hand: Nikhil Advani’s Katti Batti

Why: He’s different. His working style is different. Too polished for B-Town? Although he and Ranbir Kapoor made their debut together and have been pitted against each other, it is unfair to club them together. RK was born for this, while IK was a reluctant actor. His last few films — Matru Ki Bijli Ka Man Dola and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein were not received well and that has affected the number of offers coming his way. Also, he lost out on two films recently. One, Karan Johar’s production, and Vikramaditya Motwane’s next. Both now star Sidharth Malhotra. Too soon to write him off. He is just going through a bleak period. He should take tips from Shahid Kapoor on how to use his free time and not bother about films; which will come sooner or later.

Mallika Sherawat

Acting debut: Khwahish (2003)

Last release: Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (2012).

Film on hand: KC Bokadia’s Dirty Politics

Why: When Mallika was getting offers from Bollywood, she preferred to focus on Hollywood. Now, she has just one, and that is also a B-grade film, which will come and go like her last few releases with zero interest from the audiences.

Asin Thottumkal

Acting debut: Ghajini (2008)

Last release: Khiladi 786 (2012)

Film on hand: Umesh Shukla’s All Is Well

Why: Asin has given many blockbusters including Ghajini, Ready, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan and Khiladi 786 but for some strange reason the actress hasn’t quite made it into the big league. While many say her picky behaviour is the reason for her few films, one is yet to figure out why.

Ameesha Patel

Acting debut: Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000)

Last release: Chatur Singh Two Star (2011)

Film on hand: Desi Magic. Her own home production

Why: She had it. Then she didn’t. The only films she has now, are her own home productions.

Zero films in their kitty

Nargis Fakhri

Acting debut: Rockstar (2011)

Last release: Main Tera Hero (2014)

Film on hand: Zero in Bollywood. Hollywood film Spy

Why: She spurned a three-film offer with Akshay Kumar. Later, she made peace with the actor by signing The Shaukeens, which she lost out on when she ran off to act in a Hollywood film. She was even missing from the publicity of Main Tera Hero, as she was abroad shooting for her Holly flick which earned her the rep of

being unprofessional. Bollywood is not certain if she is interested in a career here, hence she has no films on hand here.

Prachi Desai

Acting debut: Rock On! (2008)

Last release: Policegiri (2013)

Film on hand: None

Why: She dropped out of Vikram Bhatt’s no-starter 1920 London to complete Policegiri before Sanjay Dutt began his sentence. It has been too long since her last hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. She had a passing role in Bol Bachchan. Ek VIllain doesn’t count, as it was simply an item number. Hasn’t signed any films since.

Neha Dhupia

Acting debut: Qayamat (2003)

Last release: Rush (2012)

Film on hand: None

Why: All her upcoming releases (Ungli has completed shooting, but stars Kangana in a leading role) do not star her in a leading role.
