The popular TV actor will make his Bollywood comeback with Rohit Shetty’s action thriller
Talented and cute TV actor Amit Verma better known as Vish of Star One’s Hotel Kingston is making a second attempt at Bollywood with Rohit Shetty‘s Singham Returns. His debut film Kismat Konnection with Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan had got him nowhere. Amit, who has been away from TV as well for over two years (last major show was a cameo in Saas Bina Sasural) since he had been looking for films, refuses to give out any details about the character saying,“ Rohit wants the story to be a surprise but yes my character plays an important role in the narrative.”
Once bitten and twice shy, Amit does not want to comment on the length of the role. “I really don’t know what will finally come out of the edit table? But all said and done, I am sure that whatever will be done will be for the betterment of the film. I don’t think too much about things which are not in my control”, he says matter of factly.
Although Amit has not shot much with both Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan, he says “Compared to our TV actors who have lots of attitude Bollywood biggies are much more humble and grounded. We need to learn a thing or two from them.”
Looking ahead Amit wants to do more films, “But I will say yes only if my character has meat.” He wants to return to the small screen as well. “I think I made a mistake staying away. I had recently been offered a role in a big show but could not say yes as then I was busy with Singham Returns in Hyderabad and they wanted to start as soon as possible. The earlier difference between TV and cinema is gone, we can successfully juggle both. Filmmakers are also realizing the fact that telly actors bring their own fan following to the table. I feel TV is no longer the Idiot Box rather it is one big box”, he ends.
