Finding Fanny star gets candid talking about films, industry and alleged love affairs
Arjun Kapoor is soaring sky high after delivering two back to back superhits with Gunday and 2 States. The talented actor, who is excited about his next film, Finding Fanny, was in a chatty mood recently as he spoke about a variety of topics ranging from his choice of films to dating rumours to his success mantra.
The Gunday star has done a lot of different roles in a short span of time. “The idea has always been to do different characters. I am lucky in that I have been offered a wide variety in such a short time and I have always chosen to go with the flow. I don’t want to work in just one direction. Take for instance, my upcoming film, Finding Fanny. It’s about five people who go looking for Fanny but end up learning more about themselves in the process. These are five different characters who can’t get along with each other and they end up spending two days together which teaches them a lot about themselves and their relationships”, said Arjun explaining his fascination to varied roles to a leading news daily.
When asked if Bollywood has opened its arms for newcomers, casting them in important roles, Arjun Kapoor replied,” I think it began two years ago when we found acceptance in this industry. The fact that I, along with other young actors, have bagged interesting film roles reiterates this. Homi Adajania offered me Finding Fanny after watching Ishqzaade. Filmmakers today seem to be thinking alike in that they realise that the audience is willing to shell out money to watch us. So it’s great that the viewers are appreciating our work.”
However, when asked about his opinion on rumours of him dating Alia Bhatt, the Ishqzaade star retaliated saying,” The nature of the profession is such that our love lives will be talked about. I was anyway prepared for these things; it’s part and parcel of the profession. We have to deal with it, as long as it doesn’t hit you below the belt. I am not the first person who is being linked to someone nor will I be the last. About Alia, we are good friends but rumours have taken our equation to another level altogether. We deny it, but no one is believing it. So you have to surrender yourself to such talk and not let it bother you.”
The actor signed off sharing his success secret,” Well, I am aware that this is a result-driven industry. So things keep changing from Friday to Friday. You are only as good as the box office collection of your last film. This is why I don’t take things too seriously. But yes, I take the call on what film I will be a part of, depending on the script. I believe that your choices should be your own and you should not blame other people if things don’t turn out well. I have always gone by my own instinct, though I do seek advice from my father and Aditya Chopra. They have a great understanding of the industry.”
With just a month for Finding Fanny‘s release, we can’t wait to see what Arjun Kapoor has in store for us this time around.
