Profile Dr Shahid Masood Khan commonly known as Dr Shahid Masood, is one of the most famous Pakistani journalist, columnist, TV show host and a political analyst. Early life Shahid Masood spent most of his childhood in Taif and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His father was a civil engineer, who worked there for 15 years. Education He attended the Pakistan International School, Riyadh, for seven years. Two of his younger brothers were born in Saudi Arabia. He received an FSc from DJ Science College, Karachi, and subsequently attended Sindh Medical College receiving a MBBS degree. ARY One World He had been affiliated with ARY One World, as its Senior Executive Director and was the chief of ARY One World conducting the show Views On News on ARY. Geo Tv He was host the most popular show "Meray Mutabiq" (According to me) on Geo TV as Group Execuitve Director. PTV He also parted ways with Geo TV for unknown reasons. He was then appointed the Chairman and Managing Director of state -run Pakistan Television Corporation. Special Advisor to the Prime Minister He resigned from that Chairman of PTV and was appointed as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani.He resigned again as Special Advisor to the PM and came back on the TV screen again with his popular talk show"Meray Mutabiq" on GEO TV. Views on News on ARY Shahid Masood came into the spotlight with his program Views On News (launched after 9/11) Asia’s longest-running current affairs TV show.His show carried interviews with prominent people from politics, civil life, literature and culture. Politicians who were interviewed on Views on News included Former President General Pervez Musharraf, Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, MQM leader Altaf Hussain, PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif, Former Pakistani general A. A. K. GEO banned by General Musharraf In late 2007, GEO Television was banned by General Musharraf after the imposition of emergency rule. The lack of explanation led many to believe that the network had struck a deal with the government, casting a shadow of doubt on GEO's claim of being a truly independent network in Pakistan. On War on Terrorism Ever since 9/11, Masood has been severely critical of the American-led War on Terrorism,although he never supported militancy or extremism. He routinely tends to analyze important issues along controversial lines, such as the Afghanistan,Iran, Iraq and the 2006 Lebanon War.He was the only independent Pakistani journalist who was able to cover three major wars from the combat zones.
