Sajid-Farhad’s directorial venture which hit the theaters on Friday (August 8) has done well in its first weekend and is already inching towards Rs 50 crore mark
Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer Entertainment seems to have impressed the audience big time. We say so because the comic caper has managed to rake in good moolah over its first weekend. The film had a decent start on day 1 and collected Rs 11.16 crore nett at the Indian box office. The collections were pretty much the same on day 2 (Saturday) but on Sunday the figures went up bringing the film’s three day total to Rs 36.69 crore nett. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “#Entertainment Fri 11.16 cr, Sat 11.53 cr, Sun 14 cr. Total – 36.69 cr nett. India biz.”
Though Akki’s latest film failed to impress the critics, it has turned out to be quite a crowd puller. In fact, Entertainment got off to a good start oversees too. Adarsh tweeted, “#Entertainment opened in UAE-GCC on Thursday and has collected approx AED 475,000 [Rs 79.37 lacs] on its opening day. Good.”
Well, it won’t be long before Akshay’s slapstick comedy enters Rs 50 crore club but will it become a part of the elite Rs 100 crore club? Time alone will tell…
