It’s that time of the year when you bring home lord Ganesha and celebrate Ganesh Chaurthi in grandeur with sweets and some naach-gaana…

Festivals have always found a special place in Bollywood films, whether it is Ganesh Chaturthi or Janmashtami. In real life too, B-town celebs openly welcome Ganpati bappa and celebrate Ganeshotsav with full devotion and involvement. So on this auspicious occasion we list our favourite Hindi songs dedicated to the Elephant God that will get you grooving. Ganpati Bappa morya!

Deva Shree Ganesha: Singer Ajay Gogavale’s dumdaar voice makes this devotional track a treat for the ears. From the Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath, this influential composition is by Ajay-Atul, who have used the nagada beautifully in the number. And not to forget, the last minute of the song will surely give you a high with its repetitive aarti chants!

Sadda dil vi tu: From Prabhu Deva’s ABCD (Any Body Can Dance), this song is not only a visual delight, but an upbeat, foot tapping number which is treat to the ears. The movie ends on a high note with this song, an ode to Lord Ganesha. Hard Kaur has infused a bit of rock into the Ganpati aarti which works wonderfully well, making this a hatke number without losing any of its devotional quality. Sachin-Jigar have done a fine job with the music by mixing various sounds.

Tera hi jalwa: Sung by Wajid, this song features Salman Khan and is from Prabhu Deva’s superhit film Wanted. It’s the perfect song to let your hair down and celebrate, just like Sallu does in the film. Tera hi jalwa has a very desi touch to it, which is why the song became instantly popular with street urchins, taporis and community celebrations.

Sindoor lal chadayo: This is not really a dance number, but more like an inspirational aarti from the Sanjay Dutt-starrer Vaastav (1999). But the beautiful track has truly captured the essence of the Ganesh festival. The music of this song has been composed by duo Jatin-Lalit and it is voiced by Ravindra Sathe.

Morya re: This song from the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don:The Chase Begins (2006) is an energetic number and celebrates the festival with pomp and splendour. This track has been sung by Shankar Mahadevan, written by Javed Akhtar and composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It’s the perfect number for the occasion and will get you grooving to the beats in praise of Ganpati.

Deva ho deva Ganpati deva: This is a classic number from Humse Badhkar Kaun (1981). The song with its manjeera twangs and drum beats will take you to another world. This iconic number has been sung by legendary singers Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Shailendra Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sapan Chakravarty and a chorus.
