Profile Jamshaid Ahmad Khan Dasti (2/15/1978 Muzaffargarh) is a MNA (Member of National Assembly) in Pakistan from Muzaffargarh , NA-178 which is a district in the south of the Punjab province of Pakistan and is part of Seraiki Wasaib. Muzaffargarh spreads over an area of 8,435 km² and it forms a strip between the river Chenab on its east and Indus river on its West. Muzaffargarh is one of oldest districts of Punjab. Fake degree A six-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case filed against his certificate in religious education. It become evident that Dasti presented a fake degree to prove his eligibility for elections. Later, he resigned from his office. Rejected the court decision Although the discovery of fake degree from an MNA is not unusual in Pakistan, Jamshed Dasti informally rejected the court decision and in spite of losing moral ground, he decided to contest it by polls. He openly called the court decision a joke and claimed that the court of people of his district was the real court.The court did not give a decision, as Mr. Dasti voluntarily relinquished his post as MNA. Resigned from the national assembly He resigned from the National Assembly during March 2010 on the instructions of supreme court judges and contesting the elections again for this seat as a PPPP candidate. P.M's views The prime minister of Pakistan said that the PPP ticket holder Jamshed Ahmad Dasti is a true representative of the poor labourers and the impoverished, and the people should support him in by-elections. Adviser to prime minister It shocked many when Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani appointed the disgraced ex-MNA of his party, Jamshed Dasti his adviser on livestock, a fortnight after the latter opted to resign from his seat to avoid a jail sentence. Earlier his graduation degree had been shown to be fake in the Supreme Court headed by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
