The couple will be celebrating the Humshakals actor’s birthday on August 16 at the 600 year old Winchester College
It’s usually a surprise exotic location that Kareena Kapoor Khan whisks her husband Saif Ali Khan to on his birthday every year. This August 16, though, Saif will celebrate his janamdin with schoolmates and Bebo at the 600-year-old Winchester College in Winchester, Hampshire, England.
After that, Saif, mother Sharmila Tagore and Kareena will drive to London to present the Pataudi Trophy to the winner of the India-England Test series. The final match (August 15-19) will be held at Manchester’s Old Trafford. The trophy is named after the Pataudi cricketing family and is awarded to the winner of the England-India Test Cricket series, started in 2007 to commemorate the 75 years since the first Test match between the two sides. If a series is drawn then the country holding the Pataudi Trophy retains it. Currently, England holds the trophy as it had beaten India in 2011.
Says Kareena, “My mother-in-law will be giving away the Pataudi trophy, but has asked Saif and me to do the honours with her. For me it’s a prestigious thing to even attend the event. She (Sharmila), for us, is still the original begum and always will be. I am very excited about it. Saif wanted to celebrate his birthday with his friends this time. We have more than a month to spend time by ourselves and go somewhere exotic later, as our shootings are over – my next film will start in October, while he is just completing Happy Ending. After Winchester, we go to London to give away the Pataudi Trophy.”
Saif says, “My mother has asked me to give the trophy but I think she should. It’s up to her.”
