Pradeep Sarkar’s latest directorial venture has fared decently at the BO
Rani Mukerji’s much-awaited film Mardaani hit the theatres on Friday (August) but despite good buzz the film witnessed a below average opening. On day 1, it collected around Rs 3 crore nett at the ticket windows. However, the collections were better on day 2. The women-centric flick earned Rs 4.75 nett crore on Saturday and on Sunday the figures went up further.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Mardaani grossed around 14 crore nett in its first weekend. The weekend was low but the trend was decent with decent growth on Saturday and a further up tick on Sunday. if the film can hold over the weekdays and do some decent business after the first week it can put up a decent lifetime figure.” Though Aditya Chopra’s production venture starring her wifey impressed the critics, it hasn’t really managed to rake in big moolah at the box office.
Overall, Rani’s hard hitting film has done a good job so far. But in the coming days it will be tough for Mardaani to pull in crowd to the cinema halls because Emraan Hashmi, Humaima Malik and Paresh Rawal’s comedy drama Raja Natwarlal releases this Friday.
