Profile Raja M. Zafar-ul-Haq son of Raja Fazal Dad Khan was born at Matore, Tehsil Kahuta on 18th November 1935. Education He got his early education in his village school and due to the postings of his father to various cities he studied in various cities and did his matric from a high school in Sialkot. He graduated from Government College, Lahore in 1956 and did Masters afterwards from University of Punjab and LLB from Punjab Law College in 1958. Family His father Raja Fazal Dad Khan was a career police officer. He had four sisters, two of them have passed away. He has two sons, elder one is an engineer while younger son, Raja Muhammad Ali is also active in politics from the plateform of PMLN and a former MPA from PP-2. Professional career Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq started his career in 1958 from SM Zafar Law Associates, Lahore but soon shifted to Rawalpindi and practiced law till 1981. And again from 1987 to-date as an advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan. Political career He was taken in the Federal Cabinet as Minister for Information and Broadcasting in 1981 which he continued till 1985. He also held the portfolio of the Ministry of Religious Affairs from 1984 to 1985. He served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt from 1985 to 1986 and remained Political Advisor to the Prime Minister from 1986 to 1987. Representation for Pakistan Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq is known for his lucid and eloquent style in speechcraft and has represented Pakistan in a large number of international conferences, including the 45th session of the UN General Assembly in 1990. Islah-e-Muashra Campaign He was principal convenor of the Islah-e-Muashra Campaign of the Government in 1982-84 and contributed much in the formulation of the draft law on Qisas and Diyat- a big step towards the Islamization of the society. Experts of Pakistan Law Commission He also served on the panel of experts of Pakistan Law Commission in 1980. Motamar Al Alam Al Islami He was elected as Secretary General of the oldest international Muslim Organisation, Motamar Al Alam Al Islami in 1992 for a 5-year term and continues to be one of the most active office bearers of this important Muslim forum which is recognised by the UN as its class-I consultative Organisation. He was elected to the Senate in 1991 for a six-year term. Elected Leader of the (Six Parties) Independent Opposition Group 2009.
