The government has denied any plans to strip actor Saif Ali Khan of his Padma Shri award after media reports suggested so this week
On March 14 this year, RTI activist SC Agrawal had filed a complaint with the Union Home Ministry demanding that Saif Ali Khan be stripped of the award for assaulting customers at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai in 2012. The actor had been awarded the fourth highest civilian honour in 2010 for his contributions in the field of art.
Known for his temperamental attitude, Saif has had multiple instances in the past when he allegedly lost his cool.

While Padma award rules state that the ‘President may cancel or annul the award of the decoration to any person’, it does not clarify on what happens if the person is charged or convicted by a court at a later date. But a home minister official was quoted as saying, “it would be unfair to strip a person with outstanding achievement in a field just because he is convicted in a case relating to a minor scuffle.”
