The makers have been saying since ages that they are working on the script, but why is it taking so long? Read on to find the real reason…
The sequel to the John Abraham-Abhishek Bachchan-Bobby Deol-Priyanka Chopra starrer Dostana has been in the talks since a long time. Everytime Karan Johar, the producer, or Tarun Manshukhani, the director, is asked about it they revert back by saying that they are about to come up with an announcement about the film pretty soon. However, nothing of that sort has come out till now. But, for the time being grapevine has it that KJo has finally decided to push the project for an indefinite time.
The sequel which was supposed to star Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif is based on a very sensitive topic and therefore, the My Name Is Khan director doesn’t want to rush into making it. He wants to be absolutely sure about the storyline and the script before giving a go-ahead as it is rumoured to touch upon gay relationships again. “Blending a sensitive subject with entertainment is always difficult. Also, I have always believed that a sequel should better the first part. So, Tarun Mansukhani; (director) and I have decided to keep the film aside. When we find the right plot line, we will definitely make it,” says Karan while speaking to a leading daily.
So what is Tarun doing for the time being? We wonder…our khabroos inform that he is devoting his time to work on the adaptation of a French hit, Priceless, which will star Sidharth Malhotra. “He is currently developing it. It’s a very exciting French film, and he is completely into remaking it,” says Karan while speaking to the daily. Ask him about his own directorial and he reverts by saying to the daily, “I’m writing (the script) as we speak. I will start filming next year. The cast, and other details, will all be finalised when I have the screenplay ready.”
We just hope Dostana 2 comes out at some point in the near future because we were mighty impressed by the first one. Hai na peeps?
