Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor remarkably upped their fashion quotient while promoting their films Finding Fanny and Khoobsurat respectively. Although overall, we thought that Sonam emerged as the clear winner when it came to going all out and dressing to kill at every promotional event, there were also certain lows in Sonam’s fashion appearances when Deepika excelled. Round 1
Wearing : Deepika in Alexander Wang, Sonam in Dolce and Gabbana
Our take: While Sonam wore a Dolce and Gabbana dress, Deepika dressed more casually in a frayed white zippered jacket and matching shorts from T by Alexander Wang. Perhaps, it was the day Sonam was meant to realize that wearing over-sized/big clothes doesn’t work every-time.
Round 2
Wearing : Deepika in Zara, Sonam in Zara
Our take: Both Deepika and Sonam wore outfits quite similar to each other for their promotional outings. While Deepika was dressed in a a checkered Zara trousers and belted top, Sonam wore a pink Zara top paired with a checkered Isabel Marant blazer and trousers. Round 3
Wearing : Deepika in Nikasha, Sonam in Debashri Samanta
Our take: We saw two ethnic looks, the former is typical and traditional yet appealing, the latter is edgy yet it falls flat. We Deepika’s conventional tryst with the six yards than the Khoobsurat actress’ attempt to look off-beat. Moreover, the colors Deepika opted for suited her better than the ones Sonam chose.
Round 4
Wearing : Deepika in Nikasha again, Sonam in Payal Singhal
Our take: The Finding Fanny actress floored us with her appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati! We were drooling over the saree DP wore to the show especially because of the twist in its blouse’s design! On the one hand we were applauding DP’s choice of the saree and on the other we were wondering what Sonam was thinking when she decided to wear the Payal Singhal outfit that she did. The colour is too dull for Sonam’s luminous face, the dhoti style on the bottom half of the outfit looks nothing but weird and it takes away rather than add to Sonam’s charm.
Round 5
Wearing: Deepika in Forever 21, Sonam in Easton Pearson
Our take: DP proved with the uber simple yet chic look that you don’t always have to dress in the most high-end brands to look good. Sonam, on the other hand was a classic example of how a big label doesn’t always ensure that you look stunning.
