he much talked about biopic based on the captain of the Indian cricket team received a disapproval from the cricket board
BollywoodLife had recently informed its viewers about a biopic being planned on Mahendra Singh Dhoni, MSD as he is popularly known. The film was to be directed by Neeraj Pandey and Kai Po Che fame Sushant Singh Rajput was roped in to essay the role of the Indian cricket team captain.
Looks like the project will not be carried forward after all, it having received a no-no by the BCCI. The cricket board clearly stated that no biopic on MSD can be made and put forth until the retirement of the sportsman. MSD who had given a nod to the film, had reportedly demanded a whopping Rs 40 crore for the film and had also met up with Sushant for the same.
A close friend of Dhoni’s while talking to a popular daily, revealed further details about the project saying,” To begin with, it was not a commercially viable project because a sports drama, even on a game as popular as cricket, has a niche audience. But the real roadblock came from BCCI. If we do go ahead with the film, it will only happen after MSD’s career on the field has come to an end.”
Well it seems we would have to a long while as we don’t expect MSD to retire anytime soon!
