Yes, Habib Faisal’s latest offering has fared better than Shashanka Ghosh’s directorial venture Khoobsurat
Though Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan’s Khoobsurat managed to create great buzz, its Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur’s Daawat-e-Ishq which has raced ahead at the box office. Indeed surprising. Both the films hit the theatres on Friday and got off to a sluggish start. While Daawat-e-Ishq grossed around Rs 8 crore in two days, Khoobsurat collected around Rs 6.10 crore nett. On Sunday, both the films did slightly better business at the ticket windows. The total collection of Parineeti-Aditya starrer now stands at around Rs 13.50-13.75 crore nett. As for Fawad’s Bollywood debut opposite Ms Kapoor, their film has minted around Rs 10-10.25 crore nett in the opening weekend.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Daawat-e- Ishq grossed 13.50-13.75 crore nett its it first weekend which again like Khoobsurat is a low weekend number but there was solid growth on Saturday and Sunday which means the film is depending on Monday holding up well. There is no major competition this week and that is why if it can hold on the weekdays it has chances for a respectable total.”
It further reported, “Khoobsurat grossed 10-10.25 crore nett its it first weekend which is a low figure but the trend was good with good growth on Saturday followed with a similar trend on Sunday. The growth on Saturday and Sunday gives it a chance but Monday has to hold very well and be near the Friday collection.”
