Seems like even before release, Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s film has achieved a big win!
A few days back we heard reports that the Censor Board of Film Certification had asked Homi Adajania to censor the word ‘virgin’ in one of the dialogues by Deepika Padukone in the film. While it seemed like a rather regressive decision on the part of the Board, Adajania complied.
Now we hear that the CBFC chairperson, Leela Samson has allowed the makers of Finding Fanny to retain the original dialogue without taking away their U/A certificate!
A relieved Homi was quoted saying, “When we went for the Hindi dub, we sent a mail to Leela Samson stating our case. We were not objecting to the cut, we were just confused by the contradictory action because the line had been passed earlier in the trailers. We wanted some clarity on the issue. She agreed with us that if it had been passed earlier, continuation should be maintained. It’s a positive sign.”
Leela Samson agreed to have committed a mistake on the matter and she clarified, “The makers were justified in their request. It was a mistake which needed to be rectified. I took the necessary step.”
Well, that sure is a big win for the makers of Finding Fanny and we hope that the CBFC Board continues to be impartial and progressive in its decisions even in the future.
