Deepika Padukone may have given her official last word about the TOI-concocted cleavage controversy but the actress certainly hasn’t let it go, most rightly so. In the wake of the tussle DP made her first public appearance at the Happy New Year music launch. She also appeared on Barkha Dutt’s chat show to talk about the controversy right after.
What stood out throughout this public outing immediately after the row was how the HNY actress came out in an all-covered-up avatar. Perhaps, in a bid to avoid yet another cleavage controversy, Deepika was dressed in a closed round neck and full sleeved blouse. Though she looked gorgeous in the ornate Sabyasachi creation, the fashion hogs in us were rather saddened to see her like that.
Knowing that Deepika will be seen in a glamourous role in HNY we expected to see her in a super-fashionable avatar. Like most of her Finding Fanny promotional looks which had her in chic dresses that compliment her god-honest gorgeous figure, we were looking forward to see her in yet another drool-worthy attire. But her choice of a modest attire disappointed us a little.
Deepika stepping out in traditional outfits may for all we know, be a personal style call or be in keeping with the Indiawaale theme of the film (which we have absolutely no qualms with). But immediately after expressing anger of being objectified making her first public appearance all covered up from head-to-toe wasn’t the strongest statement to make…
Having said that there is no denying that DP looks stunning in everything she wears and we look forward to her fashion statements each time. For now we hope that during the HNY multi-city tour back in India, the actress will slip back into her glam avatar and dazzle her fans!
