After Sakshi Tanwar, it’s Deepika, who has now come out in open to support Shweta, who was arrested recently after her alleged involvement in a sex racket
When National Award winning actress Shweta Basu Prasad’s alleged involvement in a prostitution ring grabbed the headlines recently, not many Bollywood celebs were vocal about their support to the actress. Bollywood’s lead actors, like Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar amongst many others, who are otherwise quite vocal about such issues chose to stay mum and not comment on Shweta’s case.
In a recent press conference, Rani Mukerji was asked about Shweta Prasad’s case, but Aditya Chopra’s wifey, who was last seen saving a bunch of girls from a prostitution racket onscreen in her film Mardaani, refused to comment.
But now Deepika Padukone has come out in support of Shweta. According to a report in a daily, when a media member asked her opinion about Shweta Basu Prasad’s situation, Dippy said, “Let me put it this way – if that was the only thing she could do to support herself and family and it was the only way she could make money, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
The Finding Fanny actor further said,”Why are we making this a scandal..why don’t we step forward and help her?…I don’t think it should we look down on her for it but instead get together and support her.”
For those of you who don’t know Shweta has only found support from her former colleague Sakshi Tanwar, producer Hansal Mehta and Nagesh Kukunoor. Sakshi, who played Shweta’s mother in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii wrote a hard-hitting open letter to the media questioning the way Basu was being hounded by the media.
Well, it’s good to see Deepika and others supporting Shweta.
