He comes from the politically-active Arbab family of the North-West Frontier Province, and is a son of the late Arbab Jehangir Khan, 14th Chief Minister of NWFP from April 7, 1985 to May 29, 1988. Arbab Alamgir Khan was born on January 27, 1961 in Peshawar. His wife, Asma Arbab Alamgir, is an MNA (member of the National Assembly of Pakistan) and the Adviser to the Prime Minister on SAFRON (States and Frontier Regions).He is also a relative of Arbab Khizer Hayat Khan (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) and Arbab Sikandar Khan, the late Governor of the North-West Frontier Province.
