Sajjad Hussain is multi-talented actor/director/producer. He is well known for his work in sitcom Extra, the mango people and Addat Say Majboor. Sajjad Hussain started as a producer but went on to direction and now acting. Check out his exclusive interview with Showbiz Pakistan.
How did you come into showbiz field?
Since childhood I was a movie freak, everything that had a screen fascinated me. I am dreamer, I live in dreams. When I was older I didn’t know that I was going to join media field or become a director or an actor or anything else in the field. When I went to Los Angeles my uncle took me to Universal Studio....when i was there and saw all the amazing creative things people doing ..at that moment I decided I want to be film maker. After returning to Pakistan I joined AAJ TV where I got my initial training and started work as assistant producer . Later I was promoted to associate producer and director and ever since working in this field.
Q .What was your first break?
My first break as director was for fashion mag show called "Trendlines" which was #1 show in 2007 and 2008. My first major acting break was in Extras the Mango People.
Q. Who is your mentor in this field? Who has helped you the most?
Most of the people in media are my friends and different people helped me in different category. In drama direction Kashif Saleem, Danish Nawaz, Saife Hassan, Asim Ali, and Azfar Ali helped me a lot. In acting Azzfer Rehman and Kashif Saleem are two my friends who pushed me to become an actor.
Q. What do you enjoy doing the most? Acting, directing, producing?
Of course direction because it’s my main course to eat....acting is like "dihari" means side income....and producing is the last job I choose to do but it’s one of the toughest job in Pakistani media to do it.
Q. Which actor and actress you like working with most?
There is no one specific because I am comfortable working with everyone.
Q.What do you think about the popularity of Pakistani dramas in India?
India has a long road to travel to reach the caliber Pakistani dramas as we do for Indian films....We have class in TV dramas and they have class in films and their budgets.
Q. What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Hanging out with friends and cousins. I love making new friends especially creative ones.
Q. Is it difficult to make a name for yourself in this field?
Of course not ! If you have talent, luck, right connections, right timing on screen and the right content on famous channels, and If you are able to manage all these thing together then your famous.
Q.What do you least like about this field?
Most of the people in this field work on luck or connection basis rather than creative skills or imagination or dreams to make unique work. Every one is after money or fame everyone wants to become hero and director or heroin.
Q.What is your best work yet?
Extra the mango people and Addaat Say Majboor.
Q.What are your upcoming projects?
BOJH (serial) as creative director.
