Profile Iftikhar Arif is an Urdu poet, scholar, and littérateur. He was born in Lucknow in 1943 and lived there till his migration to Pakistan in 1965. Iftikhar Arif has served as the chairman of Academy Adbiyat, thePakistan Academy of Letters and is currently the chairman of Muqtadra Quami Zaban, the National Language Authority. His works Mehr-e-Doneem, The Twelfth Man, Jahan-e-Maloom, and Harf-e-Baryab have been widely published and translated into several languages. He has won many awards including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance (Literature), and Faiz International Award for Poetry.
