Though Omung Kumar’s directorial venture fared well in the opening weekend, the collections went down on Monday
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated film Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra in the lead has got registers jingling to an extent. Considering the film has only one known face, the box office figures are quite impressive. Mary Kom, which released on Friday (September), got off to a good start and continued to rake in money over the weekend as well. By the end of three days, PC’s film had minted around Rs 28 crore nett at the Indian box office. However, on Monday, it did just about okay business bringing its total collection to Rs 30.50 crore.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Mary Kom dropped badly on Monday as it recorded business in the 3.25-3.50 crore nett range taking its four day total to 30.50 crore nett. The film had trended well over the weekend but there was always a chance of drop as it was premium multiplexes carrying the film which dropped off on Monday and there were so many screenings.”
“The film is heading for a first week of around 38-39 crore nett but will find it hard to hit the 50 crore nett mark for lifetime business,” further reported Boxofficeindia.
