The much-awaited biopic starring PC in the lead has finally hit the theatres
Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom has been in the news ever since its first poster was unveiled. In fact, the film’s trailer went viral on net within not time. And now that the film has released today, wethinks Omung Kumar’s directorial venture will live up to all the expectations. We say so coz Ms Chopra’s highly anticipated boxing flick has got off to a good start at ticket windows. According to Boxofficeindia, “Mary Kom opened well at around 30-35%, the occupancies are moderate but with so many screenings even if collections stay at this range it will have a healthy first day. If the film improves in the later part of the day, which it should, it will come out with a good first day total.”
Also, tax exemption has helped the film perform well to an extent. “The biggest circuits Mumbai and Delhi/UP opened well while East Punjab and Nizam/Andhra were on the lower side. The tax exemption has helped most in Mumbai city as normally it starts slow but with Mary Kom it has similar occupancies to Delhi city which happens very rarely,” further reported Boxofficeindia.”
