He is the son of Rana Abdul Rahim Khan was born on August 26, 1966 in Lahore. He belongs to a Muslim Rajput family having a long standing traditions/history of fighting and sacrificing for just cause. His grandfather, Rana Inayat Khan, was a Member of Legislative Assembly, Kapurthala State. His father, Rana Abdul Rahim was not only a senior and highly respectable lawyer but also an active worker for the restoration of democracy during dictatorship. His father served as Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association, Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council and Member Pakistan Bar Council. Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan did his matriculation from Crescent Model High School. He proceeded to Government College Multan to do his FSc, after which he graduated from FC College Lahore. He obtained the degree of LL.B. in 1991from Punjab Law College. He started his career with Mr Shahid Hamid (Advocate). Rana Mashood is a practicing lawyer who served as Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association in the year 2001 and has the honour of being elected as the youngest Secretary in the history of Bar. He is also a member of International Bar Association. He is presently running his own chamber at 2/5 Farid Kot Road, Lahore. His father is also a prominent lawyer and was Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association, Lahore in the year 1967, and Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council in 1978 and member Pakistan Bar Council in 1982. He is competent in the corporate and banking law. His chamber: “Khan & Gajana” specializes in Banking, Finance, Corporate and Intellectual Property Laws with an emphasis on civil and corporate litigation. Today, he has an experience of 15 years at the bar. Unfortunately, his father had moved on in 2007. Rana Mashood's brother Rana Asadullah Khan also has renowned reputation among lawyers and was Secretary of Lahore High Court Bar in 2008 and has participated in the well-known "battle" for the release of judges which had been imprisoned along with several other lawyers who had become activists for their message to be received i.e. RESTORE JUDICIARY. Rana Mashood also has another brother and two sisters. He has also served as Chairman Legal Aid Committee (1993), Chairperson of ARD’s Legal Committee and President of Lawyer Forum Punjab. He remained Vice President (Punjab) of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from 2000 to 2008. For the first time in the year 2002, he won the election as Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from constituency PP-149 as a candidate of PML(N).
