Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been working in the film industry with some of the best actors of the present times. From Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan to Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha and Rani Mukerji, Bhansali has worked with almost all big names in the past decade. He, however, rates the actors of his last directorial, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, as the best. Yeah you heard it right!
Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are all going to team up with SLB for his upcoming magnum opus Bajirao Mastani. So leaving aside so many big stars why did he prefer to recast the same trio again? We ask…While speaking to a leading daily Bhansali retorts by saying, ”I love Ranveer, Deepika and Priyanka. I used to have this kind of equation with Rani and Aishwarya, and I could connect [with them]. I used to like directing them and watching them come from the make-up room to the set all dressed up. I feel the same about these three now.” So if he had to rate, how would he rate these three actors? We wonder…
He responds by saying to a leading daily, “Ranveer is a great actor. He’s got the earthiness that is needed for one to connect with the mainstream audience. He also has the intelligence and the cinematic temperament to understand the nuances of world cinema. That combination is lethal. If he plays his roles well and stays focused, he can be one of the greatest actors in India in the next five years. The same goes for Deepika and Priyanka. They are wonderful girls.”
