In an interesting twist, Faisalabad police claimed Wednesday that a sub-inspector who joined PTI yesterday was not a police official. A spokesman of the city police said that no policeman in the department has been given belt number 861. “No record of Yasir Javed exists in the district record,” the spokesman added. Last evening, Javed claimed that he had resigned as police sub-inspector and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in that is continuing in capital Islamabad for over a month now. He was believed to be part of Faisalabad police. But the police spokesman said that Javed is a resident of Khaniwal’s area of Shamkot. Javed, who arrived at protest sit-in in a police uniform, was taken on shoulders by jubilant PTI supporters amid anti-government slogans.
