Talks are on to televise the Box Cricket League this year
Early this year, the TV stars had got together for Box Cricket League (BCL) organised by Marinating Films. The celebrity-studded game saw several TV actors like Kamya Punjabi, Karan Patel, Pratyusha Banerjee, etc on the field. Kamya also owned a team Jaipur Joshiley. It was the first time that TV actors had got their own cricket league. The game, however, was not televised. Now, for the next season starting from October 11, talks are on with Sony. If the deal is finalised it will probably be aired on Sony Six or Sony. Also, while there were six teams last season, two more have been added this time. Mrunal Jain has bought the Ahmedabad Express team with Nandhish Sandhu, Ajay Choudhary and Manik Soni as co-owners. His team will have players like Tina Dutta, Rashami Desai and Pooja Gor. Says Mrunal, “Last season was a trial, but this time it will be a official tournament. We will be shooting a promo too with the team members. And yes, money will be involved with the team players being paid.” Kamya Punjabi who continues to be the owner of a team, is not willing to speak about it though. She, however lets on that last time actors who were passionate about the game played, but were not paid. Sources say that other owners include Nivedita Basu who has a team called Babumoshai while Anita Hassanandani and Shiv Pandit are said to co-own the Bengaluru team.
