The Dhoom 3 actor shares his anticipation for the big launch on September 9
Picture this! You are out with your friends at one of your favourite restaurants. It’s time for dessert. You order your favourite dish… the vanilla bean creme brûlée. It arrives, makes you salivate in expectation and then you break into the crust and take your first bite. Bam! Ecstasy. You exclaim to the rest of your group that this is the very dish that makes this restaurant so special. Then suddenly, one of your friends, you know the one I’m talking about, blabbers out, “What’s so special about this, my mom makes this at home and its just as good”. You turn to look at him giving one of your angriest expressions and then you realise that it’s just not worth it. You are not going to let his naiveté spoil your enjoyment of this delicious dessert. You smile inwardly and proceed to scrape the plate clean. Now why am I talking about creme brûlée you ask? Well its a story that I have found often repeated in the tech world and come September 9, it’s going to repeat itself again. What’s happening on September 9? Well, its only the biggest event in technology, the rumoured launch of the iPhone 6…
But you see, no matter what new innovations Apple comes out with on that day, we will have those few friends; you know the ones Im talking about by now I’m sure, who are going to say that all these new improvements in the iPhone are already present in their phone. Unfortunately, much like their mother’s creme brûlée, they are sadly mistaken. For even though they may have similar technology, lets face it, the Apple creme brûlée is going to be a lot better than your friends’ mom’s. However, we as good Apple fanboys are too polite to diss our friends’ mothers; so we will all just smile inwardly and enjoy our creme brûlée while our friends can pretend to enjoy their mom’s. I guess I needed to get that off my chest before I proceed with what I really wanted to talk about and why I am so excited about the new iPhone 6…
Well, firstly it’s going to be BIGGER…yup! and apparently there are going to be 2 new sizes to choose from. Currently the iPhone 5S screen is 4 inches. The new phones will come in 4.7 and 5.5 inch sizes, that is a lot of screen real estate to enjoy, not just the phone but the spanking new iOS 8 which will come bundled with it. Of course, the rumours don’t end just there…there are a lot of things to expect… There is the sapphire crystal screen which will make the iPhone virtually un-scratchable and also a higher resolution so that the new
iPhones will still keep the same retina display but now with a much larger screen size.
Also rumoured, is the addition of NFC into the iPhone 6. Basically this means that you can now make purchases via your phone, with just a swipe or gesture of your device. It’s basically a mobile wallet and if successful, will probably be a breakthrough payment system for Apple and the rest of the world (yes your friends’ moms, too). Of course, all these are just rumours and we won’t know exactly what to expect until September 9 comes around, but as an excited Apple fan, I just can’t keep it to myself… And before your friends can whine about the fact that, “is this all there is?” Let me tell you there is a lot more, in fact there is so much more to look forward to, that I will put them all down as points and you can just thrust that in their faces:
1. A larger range of colours to choose from
2. A new A8 processor
3. 13MP rear camera with Ultra 4K recording and an improved front camera as well
4. 128 GB of maximum storage
5. Reversible lightning cable
6. Wireless charging
And if all this is still not enough for them, because let’s face it, our friends are not going to give up that easily. You can always tell them of “one more thing” — the rumoured Apple wearable device, aka the iWatch. I think that will finally shut them up and if even that doesn’t do the trick, then just let them “enjoy” their mom’s cooking while the rest of us can head on over at 10:30pm IST to our computer screens to watch the live event and revel in the truly exquisite dessert coming our way from Apple.
