It is the season of Durga Puja festivities and all parts of the country are busy dancing, singing, eating and making merry. Bollywood movies too have had ample opportunities where we had the glimpse of these festivities. Here are some top actresses who were seen in films wearing the bong get up…
Sonakshi Sinha‘s 2013 film Bullett Raja saw her in a Bengali avatar. She not only got to wear bong clothes but also performed some mind blowing dance steps in the apt bong way. Jimmy Shergill and Saif Ali Khan also joined the festivities.
Deepika Padukone‘s 2012 film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se may not have had a proper Durga puja sequence but her attire was very apt. It was a welcome breather to see her in a perfect Indian attire.
Vidya Balan was last seen embodying the victory of the good over the evil amidst Durga puja celebrations in Kolkata, in the climax of her 2012 film Kahaani. Vidya’s debut movie Parineeta also had a beautifully picturised Durga puja sequence where all the pretty ladies were seen donning the beautiful bong attire. The highlight however was Sanjay Dutt’s dhunuchi dance which was appreciated by all.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit Nene were seen dancing in front of the ten-handed goddess in their 2002 film Devdas. Sanjay Leela Bhansali had picturised the dance sequence with so much perfection that it was hard to make out that it was a film set and not a real Durga Puja celebration.
Other actresses like Bipasha Basu, Sushmita Sen and Rani Mukerji have also portrayed Bengali characters in films many a times. So BollywoodLifers, tell us what you think of these bollywood divas in bong avatar. Let us know which you like the best.
