With Jr Dhawan’s denial that he was approached for the adaptation of Chetan bhagat’s latest novel, we ask you fans to choose your favourite hunk who could play the lead in Mohit Suri’s venture…
B-town was buzzing with rumours suggesting Varun Dhawan was roped in to play the lead in Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s popular book by the same name. Of course his recent tweet, not direct though, made it quite clear that so is not the case.
Since I have reviewed the book, I thought the makers could use some help. So here are a few names who I think could convincingly play Madhav.
For those who haven’t read the book, Madhav Jha is the lead character of the story who hails from a small town in Bihar. His tall, dark and athletic physique gives him an upper hand in basket ball (which he’s very talented at) but does little for his confidence. His not so good English-speaking skills reduce his confidence level. His stubborn, never-give-up attitude and his unconditional love for those who matter to him are the striking characteristics of his personality.
Here’s the list of actors that I think, would fit Madhav’s character sketch perfectly. Take a look and tell me what you think…
Sushant Singh Rajput: Now I don’t know if it’s his physique or his Bihari origin or his image from the popular daily, Pvitra Rishta, but Sushant was the only person I initially imagined while reading the book. Though I thought of others who could play the role, I still think he’s by far the most suited for the role of Madhav.
Arjun Kapoor: Now we know that Chetan Bhagat has a standard set of characteristics allotted to all his male lead- tall, dark, coy. Since Arjun has already proved his mettle as Krish Malhotra in 2 States, I’m quite confident he can very well do it again. In fact, I’ve actually been told by some that after 2 States, they can only imagine Arjun in all Chetan Bhagat adaptations. Now that’s something!
Ranveer Singh: The actor has gone from a hip conman in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl to a rowdy goon with remarkable ease. Given the versatility of roles he’s played (special mention to Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela), I’m actually intrigued to see him play a coy, low-on-confidence kind of a role. That would be a cool experiment, right? And of course he passes the physical test too.
Sidharth Malhotra: It would have been impossible for me to think of Sid anywhere close to Madhav’s character had he not displayed his dark side in Ek Villain courtesy, his chocolate boy looks in SOTY. Anyone who can go that transformation in the span of a movie is sure capable of much more. And his recent bearded avatar for Warrior has given him the raw village look that promises a great Madhav.
What do you think , who among these should play the male lead in Ekta Kapoor’s Half Girlfriend?
