Bhardwaj’s latest film is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, has received as much criticism as it has received praise. While there is a lot which have expressed their appreciation of the film, there is another section of people who have gone all out to put a ban on it. The latter being of the opinion that Haider demeans patriotic and religious sentiments.
The movie is accused of portraying the Indian army in a bad light, in turn helping the separatist cause. Also the song Bismil, which has been shot with the Martand temple in the background, depicts a devil idol at the entrance and has dancers in footwear. The anti-Haider sect has taken to Twitter to express their angst via the #BoycottHaider campaign. Here, take a look at some of their tweets…
Any movie that sympathises with terrorists, glorifies them; insults Indian Army & justifies ethnic cleansing, goes to the bin. #BoycottHaider
This is awesome. Make Anti-India & Anti-Indian army movie like #BoycottHaider & ask Indians only to pay & watch it! Idiots wake up!!
Watching Haider is like donating money towards terrorists cause. Choice is yours be patriot and #BoycottHaider spread the message
#BoycottHaider its anti army. I wd rather donate to the army welfare fund than pay to watch the movie and fatten Vishal Bhardwaj’s purse
I Spent a lot of time with #Indian army in Kashmir: warm, courageous soldiers, youthful educated officers. #BoycottHaider that demeans them.
