The legendary actor was out of films for long and is finally back with a bang…

Govinda has marked his comeback this year. He was first seen in the Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday. Now, Govinda is looking forward to the release of Shaad Ali’s Kill Dil where he plays the villain. Then he has Happy Ending along side Saif Ali Khan, where he plays a very quirky character. Also he has his home production Abhinay Chakra. So what’s with the sudden surge of activity in his career? Is it because of the high flying production houses that are backing his projects? We wonder…

He says he has never felt more relaxed and confident about any recent project. “It’s a lot of factors happening together. The producers Yash Raj are extremely professional. The director Shaad Ali knows his job. Most importantly, 2014 seems like a terrific year for me. There is Kill Dil. Then there is Saif Ali Khan’s film Happy Ending and finally my own production Abhinay Chakra. While I play the villain in the first I play the leading man in the third. In Happy Ending I’ve a very interesting cameo. So I’ve a wide variety of roles to choose from. Let’s see how the year pans out” informs the Hero No 1 actor.

In his 20-year long career, Govinda has never worked with Yash Raj Films before. We wonder why…“It’s just a strange coincidence When they wanted to work with me I was doing 48-49 films and they didn’t want an actor who worked so extensively. Finally we are working together after 20 years” clarifies the actor. And what’s with this new surge about playing a negative character? Govinda informs, “I did play a negative role earlier in N Chandra’s Shikari. But my actions were justified. But here in Kill Dil it’s different kind of villainy”.

So is he excited about this new phase in his acting career? The actor says that he feels content with his career after many years. “I am excited about all the three films. In Happy Ending I’ve an extended cameo. I really enjoyed working with Saif’s unit. They are a decent cultured people. I have decided to work only with reliable and decent producers. I am done with half-baked producers. I don’t meet such producers any more” he concludes.
