Audiences will be treated to Rhea Chakraborty-Ali Fazal’s David vs Goliath story and alongside will also get to see Veena Malik, as the ghost, trying to scare the shit out of Karanvir Bohra. Which one should you pick? Read on to find out…
Sonali Cable
Director: Charudutt Acharya
Star cast: Rhea Chakraborty, Ali Fazal, Raghav Juyal, Anupam Kher, Smita Jaykar, Swanand Kirkire, Mrigendra Konwar, Muzammil Qureshi, Nilima Priya
Synopsis: Set in the cable internet turf war of Mumbai, Sonali Cable is the story of a ghetto girl and her ‘internet boys’, who take on a greedy conglomerate that’s out to decimate their spirit of enterprise. Sonali Cable is a ‘David versus Goliath’ story, in the thick of the cable internet turf war in Mumbai. An ordinary girl puts her love, life and survival at stake, when she and her ragtag team come in the way of the expansion plans of India’s largest corporation. The film wants to establish the growing corporate crushing small businesses without any scope for co existence.
Why should you watch: The script, penned by Charudutt Acharya, was one of the eight scripts selected for Mumbai Mantra-Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2012, chosen through an evaluation process of submissions from around the world, including the United States and France. Ali Fazal is back onscreen after Bobby Jasoos opposite Vidya Balan and Rhea was last seen in Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Both of their performances were brilliant and we expect a similar act this time as well.
Mumbai 125 KM
Director: Hemant Madhukar
Star cast: Karanvir Bohra, Veena Malik, Vije Bhatia, Vedita Pratap Singh, Joey Debroy, Aparnaa Bajpai, Rajiv Anand
Synopsis: It’s a story about a single night and all the horror elements that transpire on a road trip, which has not been seen in our films before. Five friends are on their way from Pune when they experience a bizarre incident and get holed up 125 kms away from Mumbai.
Why should you watch: Audiences have always loved horror films. It also has the sexy Pakistani import Veena Malik as the ghost, which sparks up a lot of expectations. Karanvir Bohra is a big name in the TV industry but has not been able to make it that big in films. This can be his turning point. The film is shot entirely on Stereoscopic 3D cameras and will release in 2D and 3D formats. It would definitely be worth a watch, we believe.
So audiences, go ahead and take your pick for this week.
