Karan Johar’s favourite ‘student’ Alia Bhatt can rightly be a called a youth icon. From playing a suave Shanaya Singhania in Student Of The Year to her latest Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Alia has not only evolved as an actress but also as a fashion icon. And rightly spotting her strength, Alia recently launched her clothing line named after her with a leading online shopping brand. While the actress seems perfect for this collaboration, we look at five other mainstream heroines who in our opinion should never try their hand at designing clothes given that their so called fashionable experiments in the past still haunt us…
Parineeti Chopra: Though we must admit that Pari seems to be working very hard to improve her dressing sense, her wrong choice of clothes (blame her stylists for that), often, makes her an easy target of the fashion police. Criticized for her ‘safe’ dressing sense, the Daawat-e-Ishq actress does not seem to have the experimental streak that Alia has. We remember Parineeti had once said on Karan Johar’s chat show that she wants Ms Bhatt to be her stylist. Now as the clothes designed by Alia are up for grabs, we hope Parineeti knows where to shop from. Wink! Wink!
Shraddha Kapoor: Often spotted wearing denims and casual tops, Shraddha sometimes gets too experimental with her clothes. The one that haunts us the most is her Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 appearance while promoting Ek Villain. We are sure the actress forgot to look at the mirror before stepping out of her vanity van in that yellow dress. Of course, she has had her good days with fashion and style, but the Haider starlet doesn’t seem very fashion inclined. With a strong screen presence like her, we suggest Shraddha stick to acting even in the future.
Sonakshi Sinha: Sonakshi has often worn clothes which didn’t suit the Dabangg actor’s personality one bit. Wethinks the actor does have a good fashion sense provided she takes her own fashion calls and rely a little less on her stylists. As far as her own fashion label is concerned, the Tevar babe still has a long way to go.
Vidya Balan: The last time we had seen Vidya Balan at a press event, she was wearing a saree. And before that we spotted her in a saree. And the time before that she was wearing a saree. Hmmm! With less or no experimentation at all, Vidya is far from being called ‘fashionable’. Though she looks ‘Ooh la la’ in her traditional avatar, wethinks it takes much more than that to have your own trendy fashion label that Alia now proudly owns.
Sunny Leone: Her dressing sense is generally given a miss, courtesy her sexy looks. If we look at it closely the ‘Baby Doll’ of Bollywood is frequently spotted wearing short numbers at public events which more or less look the same. The Ragini MMS 2 actress has hardly made a fashion statement and with such low scores on the fashion front, Sunny should stick to acting and item songs, hai na?
