The romantic saga directed by Aditya Chopra will complete 1000 weeks in December 2014

Well it may come across as a shock for many Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge fans, but the romantic film will soon go off screen at Maratha Mandir after completing its 1000 weeks. The theatre’s Managing Director Manoj Desai, is thinking about drawing curtains on the film.

Confirming on the same Desai said to a news portal, “We may not show this film after December once it completes 1000 weeks. Over the years, we got good response as the cinema hall is close to the Mumbai Central railway station and state transport bus stand. Recently, the collection has taken a nosedive and, therefore, we are thinking of discontinuing the show.” Sources also confirm that the matter will further be discussed with Yash Raj Films and the stakeholders will soon take a decision over the fate of this film.

DDLJ was released in 1995 and is still being screened everyday at 11.30 am. It is presently running in its 990th week. SRK and Kajol’s romantic saga is by far the longest running film of the Hindi cinema.
