They play unlikely lovers at loggerheads in Tamanchey, but their off-screen bickering and constant differences would probably make a better film
Apparently, Nikhil Dwivedi and Richa Chadda couldn’t see eye-to-eye from Day 1. “There were constant fights between the two…and we aren’t talking about normal professional differences. There were major quarrels that threatened to shut down the project,” says a member of the Tamanchey team.
The main issue between the two was Nikhil’s over-active participation behind the camera. Says the source, “Nikhil was very active on the sets. Richa would refuse to take instructions from him arguing he was not the director. There would be constant arguments between the two over the allotment of authority on the sets. It came to a point where work couldn’t happen on the sets.”
Both Nikhil and Richa admit there were problems. Says Nikhil, “I never had problems with her. You should ask her what her problems were. We are just different people. But eventually we sorted out our differences and I can claim that we are friends now.” Richa admits there were problems. “You don’t always hit it off instantly with people you work with. Sometimes it takes time. Nikhil is like an onion. To get to the core, you’ve to peel through the layers. Bahot rulata hai.”
