Over 150 television celebrities are a part of the cricket league, but we wonder why the popular faces didn’t join in with the rest?
The first season of Box Cricket League had six teams, but this year as the concept became bigger so did the count. BCL went from six teams to eight this year. We got in touch with the brain behind BCL – Sunny Arora from Marinating Films to find out why we didn’t bring in stars like Drashti Dhami, Sanaya Irani, Gautam Rode, Karanvir Bohra in these matches. He said, “BCL has become very popular. In fact this year Karanvir Bohra approached us ‘coz he wanted to buy a team, but all the teams were taken. We still have about 30 other actors who still want to be a part of BCL, but we have no more spots left.”
So wouldn’t bringing in names like Drashti Dhami and Sanaya Irani add value to the show? “The captain and the owner of the teams decide the players. When we started off BCL, I called my friends Nivedita Basu, Vishal Singh, Anand Mishra, Kamya Punjabi and I became the owners. They in turn roped in their friends in the team. As for Sanaya and Drashti, I do not know these girls personally and maybe the owners don’t know them personally either. The teams formed now are purely based on friendship. Maybe if Karanvir was there, he would have roped them in.”
Well if not this year, we hope in the next year both Drashti and Sanaya will develop interest in the sport as well. What do you think ?
