Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider, which stars Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon released on Thursday (October 2) and while many have been going gaga about the film, there are some people, who have decided to boycott the movie. #BoycottHaider trended as many Twitter users claimed the movie was sympathetic to separatists and that it doesn’t account for the suffering of the Kashmiri pandits who were forced to flee the state and insulted the Indian army.
“Any movie that sympathises with terrorists, glorifies them; insults Indian Army & justifies ethnic cleansing, goes to the bin. #BoycottHaider,” Tweeted @Aaditya025.
Many Tweeted at actors in the film, who have not responded yet. Many of those tweets were personal, while the rest criticised the actors for participating in a movie which “insulted the army”. “@sunandavashisht artist like @shahidkapoor will earn crores defaming army while our army men die everyday to protect India #BoycottHaider,” Tweeted @jagdishp568.
However, there were also several people, who criticised those calling for the boycott. “Dont get this #boycotthaider thing, it’s not a documentary. Why should it necessarily be factually correct,” tweeted @rachitst.
Here take a look at some of the tweets and tell us if this boycott on Haider makes sense.
