Akki will reportedly play a magician on the silver screen. Read on for more details
He might have refused to play Milkha Singh in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which ultimately had Farhan Akhtar essaying the role of legendary Indian track and field sprinter. But looks like, after Farhan and Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom), Akshay is all set to join the biopic race.
Akki is said to have been signed on to play the globe-trotting master magician – PC Sorcar in an upcoming biopic, which will be directed by Soumik Sen, who last directed Gulaab Gang, which had Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla in lead roles.
Reportedly, Soumik has worked on the script and when he approached Akshay to be a part of it, the latter showed immense interest in the film which has already got the backing of a production house. Apparently, the filmmaker has also been granted permission by Sorcar’s son PC Sorcar Junior, who is also an accomplished magician, to go ahead with the biopic.
And now here’s a little info about the master magician. Sorcar (1913-1971) was active in the 50s and 60s. Known for his tricks and illusions, the most notable being the ‘floating lady’ act, he hosted several shows in Kolkata and abroad.
Well well, it will definitely be interesting to see Akki as Sorcar. Do you have any other actor in mind, who can essay this role? Tell us!
