Fans thronged in great numbers to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars
The opening day of 45th International Film Festival of India was nothing short of a disaster. The collective management failure at the event led to the big stars like Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan to be mobbed by crazy fans. The film festival got off to a glittering start amid fanfare, as Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley opened the ceremony along with chief guest Amitabh Bachchan.
The highlight of the event was Big B presenting the Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year to Lingaa actor Rajinikanth. But before all the dignitaries could enter the venue, the crazy mob of fans were all over the superstars as the security personnel jostled to keep the crowd under control. Many of the foreign delegates were having a hard time to find their respective seats.
The venue was jam packed with over 10000 fans that celebs like Anupam Kher and Raveena Tandon had trouble reading from the teleprinter installed in front of them as crowd was blocking their view. Such was the mismanagement that Chinese delegates had to be seated on the stairs. Well, with two of India’s biggest superstar’s sharing the dais in the event, the organisers should have been better prepared to handle the crowd.
