With the new crop of rappers emerging in Bollywood, we ask you which of these singers can give the Desi Kalakaar a run for his money

Rap songs have always been a part of Indian music – be it Bollywood music or indie pop. While many rappers have come and gone, no one has tasted success like B-town’s rap sensation, Yo Yo Honey Singh. In a country teeming with talented singers, it is a great feat that Yo Yo has managed to find a firm footing in Bollywood.

But with more and more music directors wishing to include hiphop verses in almost every other song, a new crop of rap singers have emerged in B-town to challenge Honey Singh’s might. Bollywoodlife brings you a list of Indian rappers who could dethrone Yo Yo to become India’s biggest rap star in future:

Badshah

Sonam Kapoor-Fawad Khan’s Khoobsurat introduced a new rap talent to Bollywood. The extremely catchy dance number Abhi toh party shuru hui hai was a huge hit amongst the youth and rapper Baadshah got a big break through this song. Badshah, who also featured in the video along with Sonam, knows that rapping is not just singing, but it is all about attitude. And going by his popularity, Badshah might become the next rap sensation of Bollywood.

Imran Khan

In year 2009, Pakistani-Dutch singer Imran Khan released a single called Amplifier. It’s been five years, but still the song is in the tip of the tongue of every hip hop fan. Now the singer is all set to break into Bollywood with Arjun Kapoor-Sonakshi Sinha’s Tevar. While it has taken a long time for Imran to get the big break in B-town, we believe the singer has the potential to make it big.

RDB

Rhythm Dhol Bass aka RDB is a known name in the field of Punjabi rap music for a decade now. But this band rose to fame when they performed along with international star Snoop Dog for the song Singh is King in Akshay Kumar’s Singh is King. Since then this band of rappers have churned out one chart busters after another with songs like Paisa Paisa from De Dana Dan and Sadi Gali (sung by Lehmber Hussainpuri) from Tanu Weds Manu loved by music lovers across the nation. Can RDB trio pose a threat to Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Rap King title?

Dr Zeus

He might be the oldest in the lot of rappers, who has been active in the hiphop scene for nearly two decades now. But you just can’t write off Dr Zeuss who has stormed into Bollywood this year with not one but two songs. He made his B-town singing debut with Saahil Prem’s Mad About Dance, but he hogged the limelight with the Lovely song from Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year. Even in the past his singles Kangna and Jugni Ji have been quite a hit. With market opening up for rappers in Bollywood, Dr Zeuss could challenge Yo Yo’s might.

Meet Bros Anjjan

The trio of Indian rappers have been blessed with films in B-town and it would be right to say that they have grabbed the golden opportunities with both hands. Their popularity soared to great heights with the sexy Baby Doll song from Sunny Leone’s Ragini MMS 2. The trio seems to have stepped on the gas as they seem to be in a hurry bagging big projects Salman Khan’s Kick and Ajay Devgn’s Singham Returns. Looks like Meet Bros Anjjan are all set to give tough competition to the Desi Kalakaar singer.

Who do you think has the calibre to give sleepless nights to Yo Yo Honey Singh?
