David Ayer’s directorial film also stars Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jason Bernthal and others. Whether you should watch the film or not? Here’s our take on the same…
What’s it about:
At the height of World War II, the Allies strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Tanks take over from the cavalry and face constant peril. This is the story of one such tank and its five inhabitants.
What’s hot:
As war films go, the cinematography is on par with the best of the lot. It doesn’t hurt to have the likes of Pitt, LaBeouf and Bernthal holed up in a claustrophobic tank and to watch what happens. Brad Pitt is effective but comes off a little unnecessary.
What’s not:
At times, it gets too gory. Even those of the strongest constitution may buckle during a few scenes. And you never get to know why the rookie Norman (Lerman) lands up in the midst of the team. Anybody, even someone who’s never been at war, will relate to killing someone vis-a-vis being killed. You’d have to be completely naive to behave the way Norman does.
What to do:
While it isn’t for the faint of heart, it’s a film everybody can relate to. There are no grey areas here. The lines are very clearly drawn.
